Professor Jackson Gillis - Steampunk original character

Why I chose to make this costume

Professor Gillis is my first steampunk original character. He is an archaelogy professor from whatever setting is appropriate (sometimes he'll say Transylvania Polygnostic University, sometimes he'll say the Cygnaran Royal Academy - oddly he wears insignia appropriate to either) and is equal parts "Indiana Jones" and the absent-minded professor. He travels often between the various digs managed by his graduate students thanks to Captain Kitty Barnstormer and her airship whom he keeps on permanent retainer.

How I made this costume

The bulk of the work on this was in finding plenty of interesting "steampunky" tools, equipment, bits and bobs to keep in the many pockets of his utility vest. The Bowie knife and Colt revolver are 3D-printed with convention safety in mind, though I did make the pistol holster myself from leather.

Thoughts on this costume

Eventually I will likely have more interesting costumes to bring to steampunk events, but the professor will always be an easy one to pack, or at least to change into later in the day.
